With the colder months (a lot of the time) comes dry weather and with dry weather comes dry skin. Something that has been a savior for my dry skin no matter what time of year is moisturizer. I moisturize daily (I say this as I pat myself on the back). One of the few things I do well with my skin is moisturize. Having unusual dry skin to begin with puts me at a disadvantage when the dry months come around. Some effects that I see from not keeping my skin moisturized are flaky face and dry pimples (gross). You might see different effects- everyone’s skin is different.
Something to know before you go out and buy the first moisturizer that you see… Not all moisturizers work for all people in the same way. Just because a moisturizer is expensive does not mean that it will work for you, actually you should probably hope that it doesn’t and something cheap works for you instead! Either way it depends on your skin. Below are some moisturizers that we recommend you try. If you use a face wash regularly, you might try a moisturizer from the same brand or product line. If you have someone that you go to that advises you on your skin (aka a dermatologist) ask them for some input.
Something to look for in every moisturizer- SPF!
1. Neutrogena Oil-Free Facial Moisturizer SPF 15
This product can be found at your local drug store (Walgreens, CVS, etc.) and Target for about $10.
2. Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer SPF 15
This product can be found at your local drug store (Walgreens, CVS, etc.) and Target for about $15.
It was voted as an InStyle Best of Beauty Buy in 2010.
3. Olay Total Effects UV Fragrance-Free Moisturizer
This product can be found at your local drug store (Walgreens, CVS, etc.) and Target for about $18.
4. Dermologica Active Moist
This product can be found online at Dermologica.com or at your local skin care retails (such as Hans in La Canada) for about $50. Note, that this does not have SPF so an additional sun screen would need to be worn.
This is a product that we have used on and off throughout our teenage and adult years (when we could afford it). I bring it up even with such a high price because it has worked for me and my skin. I have found, however, that other products like #1 Neutrogena’s Oil-Free Facial Moisturizer have worked for me as well.
