About Steph

Hi! I’m Steph, the older of the UNexperts sisters.
I’m a newlywed- this studly red-headed college quarterback stole my heart and now I get to call him hubby. My love of photography and my love for people collided recently and resulted in me starting my own photography business this year- what an amazing journey it will be.  I have a weakness for style magazines, salty snacks and silk tops.  Being in community with others is a driving force in my life.

.
WHERE I’M COMING FROM

From the ages of about 7 to 14 I was a tom boy.  I played sports like crazy and pretty much wore nothing but soccer shorts and t-shirts in those years.  I had a ‘mushroom’ haircut for too many years (see above photo),then it was nothing but years of ponytails and giant buns since I couldn’t figure out how to tame this huge mop of partly curly and insanely thick hair I have.
As a teenager my style mostly consisted of jeans and tshirts.  Super simple, super casual and not far off from those tom boy days. A single swipe of mascara and a little lip gloss was the extent of my makeup for most of my days.
After I ended my 14 some odd years of my entire life revolving around playing soccer, I suddenly had the time and energy to devote to other things….like the fabulous worlds of clothes, makeup, photography, crafting and cooking.  Ever since then I’ve been hooked.

WHERE I’M AT

I love style that’s trendy AND practical- “practically trendy” I like to say. That’s what I would define my style as I guess.  It’s a combination of classic and stylish pieces that are always comfortable.  Comfort is key for me.  Not just for clothes.  Comfortable with who I am and what I look like.  As women I’d say we’re generally not comfortable in our own skin.  I’m still learning.  My hope is that this blog is not just about the latest trends and how to make awesome cocktails, but about learning to embrace who we are as women and fun ways to celebrate that.

WHERE I’M GOING

Hmmm, good question….Along with being comfortable in my clothes and in who I am comes with that other big C word- Confidence.  I want to not only be proud of what I look like but be able to acknowledge my strengths and believe in myself and my abilities.
I’d also like to do a better job of taking things one day at a time.  I can get so wrapped up in, and anxious about, what’s to come, that I miss out on the present.  There’s so much to enjoy TODAY!

xo.

Hi Steph! Thanks for your sweet comment on the Youngren’s blog welcoming me to their team. I’m glad I got to meet you briefly so that you’ll be a slightly familiar face when PartnerCon rolls around. It’s going to sneak up quick so I know I’ll be seeing you again soon! Looking forward to it!

Your blog looks great! In fact, you’ve inspired me to have some sweet potato fries for dinner tonight. Thanks!
